Alberta Video Production — Frequently Asked Questions

This page is intentionally SEO-heavy. I’d rather be upfront about it than hide behind agency jargon. I still tried to make it look good — clean, creative, and a bit interactive — so it’s useful, not just keyword stuffing.

I work as an owner-operator, not an agency. No layers of account managers. No inflated crews. Just one Alberta videographer who listens, plans with you, and does the work.

Each section walks through what matters most: how I work with clients, what I offer, how the process runs, and what you can expect on delivery and budget. If something isn’t covered, just drop me a line, call, or reach out on social media — I’m easy to get ahold of.

SECTION 01 · WORKING WITH ME

Working With Me

I am not a big shop or a studio with ten people in the room. Most of the time it is just you, me, and the camera — which keeps things honest, flexible, and affordable.

Why hire a local Edmonton videographer instead of a big agency?
Local means faster communication, lower overhead, and someone who understands Alberta businesses. Agencies send crews. I show up personally, shoot personally, edit personally, and stay accountable from the first call to the final export. No fluff. No layers.
Do you work alone or with a crew?
I work solo on most projects. That keeps the footprint small, communication simple, and costs under control. When a project truly needs extra hands, I bring trusted people I know well and still keep the team tight and focused.
Are you based in Edmonton?
I am an Edmonton-based videographer living just outside the city. Most of my work is in Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Leduc, Spruce Grove, Red Deer, and the central Alberta region.
Do you travel for projects?
Yes. I travel across Alberta and Western Canada when it makes sense for the project. I am comfortable on industrial sites, rural properties, and remote locations — boots on, hard hat ready.
What industries do you film for in Alberta?
I work with trades, small and mid-sized businesses, healthcare, manufacturing, ministries, nonprofits, tourism, and local shops. Alberta has a wide range of industries — I have filmed in most of them at some point over the last couple of decades.

Video, Photo & Reels

Whether it is a longer story, a short punchy reel, or a mix of both, I keep the visuals honest and intentional — built around what you actually need, not just what looks trendy for a week.

What types of videos do you produce?
I produce corporate pieces, event highlights, explainers, product demos, documentary and testimonial stories, training and safety content, recruitment videos, brand stories, short-form reels, and selective drone work. I mainly serve businesses, ministries, and nonprofits across Alberta with a focus on Edmonton and Central Alberta.
Do you also offer photography?
Yes. I provide headshots, product and lifestyle photos, corporate and event coverage, and drone photography. Many clients book combined photo and video packages so everything matches across web, social, and print.
Can you film at my business or job site?
Yes. I film in offices, clinics, farms, shops, industrial sites, job sites, and remote Alberta locations. My gear footprint is small and I work around your operations without getting in the way.
Do you offer drone videography?
Yes. I use a compact drone when aerial shots genuinely add to the story or clarity of a scene. Flights follow Canadian regulations and local restrictions.
Can you make vertical videos for social media?
Yes. I shoot and edit in 9:16 for reels, shorts, and TikTok-ready content. If we film horizontally, I can re-cut versions for social without losing quality, so you get more mileage from a single shoot.
Can you create reels timed to commercial music on TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook?
Yes. When we are building reels for TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook, I can cut the visuals so they sync tightly to specific songs that are available inside the platform’s own music library. You choose (or I suggest) a track that fits your brand, then I time transitions and beats so the reel feels intentional and on-rhythm — without risking unlicensed music in the exported file.

Planning, Process & On-Camera

Most people I work with are not actors. That is good. The aim is to capture real people, clear stories, and a process that feels simple instead of stressful.

What is your video production process from start to finish?
My process is simple and clear:
1. Planning — we talk about goals and choose a practical approach.
2. Filming — I handle lighting, audio, and camera work.
3. Editing — I cut the first version, add music, graphics, and colour.
4. Revisions — you give notes, I refine.
5. Delivery — final files ready for web, social, or internal use.
No fluff. No layers. Just a straight process that works.
Can you help me develop the idea or script?
Yes. Many clients start with nothing but an idea. I help shape the message, build a simple structure, and clarify what will work on camera so your story stays sharp and honest instead of feeling over-written.
What should I wear for a video shoot?
Solid colours work best. Avoid busy patterns and bright neon. Dress the way you normally look when you feel confident and put together. If you are unsure, bring two options and we will pick what works best under the lights and in your setting.
Can you help me feel comfortable on camera?
Yes. Most people are not actors and that is perfectly fine. I keep the set calm, give simple direction, and we do multiple takes if needed. I also use a teleprompter when it makes sense so your delivery stays natural and on message with steady eye contact.
Do you create training or educational videos?
Yes. I produce safety, onboarding, and internal training content that is clear, visual, and practical. The aim is to help people remember what matters and to support your compliance requirements without boring everyone to tears.
Do you make recruitment or hiring videos?
Yes. I create honest recruitment pieces that show your team, culture, and expectations so the right people apply and the wrong people can self-select out. I prefer real staff over actors whenever possible.

Editing, Delivery & Budget

I keep post-production straightforward and transparent. You always know what is included, when to expect drafts, and how files will be delivered and backed up.

How much does video production cost?
It depends on scope, shoot time, and edit time. A simple talking-head interview costs less than a multi-day shoot or a full training series. I keep things lean and honest — you pay for time, skill, and clear results, not inflated crews. See the pricing page or request a quote and I will outline options.
What is your typical timeline?
Most projects deliver within one to three weeks once we have filmed everything. Larger edits or series work can take longer. If you have a firm deadline, tell me up front and I will advise what is realistic or offer a rush option if possible.
Can I give feedback during editing?
Yes. I include one to two rounds of revision on most projects. You can give notes on pacing, captions, graphics, and music. My goal is to keep the process collaborative without dragging you through endless versions.
How do you handle music licensing?
I use properly licensed music from professional libraries for videos that need a baked-in soundtrack so you can post on your website, at events, and in many ad placements. For TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook reels, I design the edit so you can apply commercial tracks from the platform’s own library, which keeps everything on the right side of copyright.
Will you store my footage?
Yes. I archive project files and footage for a period after delivery so updates, new edits, or future versions are possible without refilming everything. If long-term storage is important, we can plan a simple backup strategy together.
Do you offer colour grading?
Yes. I grade every project using a clean, cinematic style that suits your brand. Nothing over-stylized unless requested — just honest colour that feels natural and polished on modern screens.
Can you work around tight schedules or after hours?
Yes. Many Alberta businesses cannot pause operations. I often film early mornings, evenings, or weekends to avoid disruptions and to respect your team’s time.
Is there anything you do not offer?
I do not offer live streaming, 360 virtual tours, or high-volume real estate walkthroughs. My focus is on story-driven business, nonprofit, and ministry content. If you need something outside my wheelhouse, I will say so and, when possible, point you in the right direction.
BE KIND & REWIND

Thanks For Watching.

If you have made it this far, you probably care about who you work with as much as what the final video looks like. That is good. So do I.

I do my best to keep the work honest, clear, and grounded — story first, visuals with intent, and no agency fluff. If you think we might be a good fit, I would be glad to listen and suggest a plan.
