Drayton Valley Family Carnival Time-Lapse
I went out last night and shot a bunch of photos at our local fair here in Drayton Valley — then turned them into this time-lapse. It’s simple, colorful, and captures the spirit of small-town Alberta in motion.
Gear: Sony a6500 + TTArtisan 7.5 mm f/2 fisheye. The wide field bends the carnival rides just enough to feel alive without distortion fatigue. I kept short intervals for smoother motion and graded warm to match the atmosphere of the evening.
Notes on the Shot
I framed from low angle to keep the ferris wheel dominating the skyline while letting lights streak through mid-ground. The fisheye exaggerates perspective but pulls viewers inward, giving each ride a gravitational swirl.
Nights like this remind me how blessed I am to have my work as my hobby and my hobby as my work. Whether it’s a paid project or a quiet night behind the lens, gratitude and craft meet in the same frame.
Cheers,
